Black History Month 2021: Books for Kids and Teens

About This Page: Books for Kids and Teens

About This Page: Books for Kids and Teens

The books featured on this page are nonfiction titles that specifically engage with issues of racism. They're important, and kids should read them.  But it is equally important that kids--ALL kids-- read books about kids of color just being kids.  In the "Additional Resources and Recommendations" box, you will find links to websites with recommendations for a myriad of books that celebrate all kinds of diversity.  CVSD libraries have made a strong commitment to building a highly diverse collection, and you will be able to find many recommended titles for children and youth on the CVSD Destiny library catalog. You can also check the Cumberland County Library System, or purchase at bookshop.org or your favorite bookstore.  If you have trouble locating a title, contact a CVSD librarian for assistance.

Hover over the "Books for Kids and Teens" tab at the top and click on your school to link directly to books available at your school library!
